Salford City has today completed our first bit of January business by securing Declan John on loan for the rest of the 2023-24 season!

The defender joined us on loan from Bolton Wanderers on deadline day of the summer window, and made 19 appearances in the first half of the season.

He will now remain at The Peninsula Stadium until May, and believes that the appointment of Karl Robinson can inspire the Ammies to a better second half of the season.

“It was an easy decision, I think the club needed a bit of stability and now it has that with the new Gaffer. After seeing him and meeting him today the boys seem upbeat which is good to see and be a part of.

“The first two months for me personally went reasonably well, we had a spell of a few games where we had a few wins and draws, but have had a tricky few weeks for whatever reason. But I’m sure that’s going to change with the quality we have in the team, and I’ve still got a lot to show and prove that I’m a good player.

“We’re relishing the challenge and are looking forward to working hard and doing our best for the club and the new Gaffer. We want to finish strong and give a good account of ourselves, and we owe it to the fans, the club and ourselves to really get going and get up the table!”

Great to have you back, Dec! The deal is subject to EFL and FA ratification and approval.
