Jon Taylor has been discussing the importance of the squad as The Ammies head into their next fixture this weekend.

Speaking on the club’s official podcast ahead of Saturday's trip to Cheltenham Town, the 32-year-old winger believes how the squad is being managed will assist the team greatly in this next phase of the season.

“As you can see throughout the season, the Gaffer can make six changes each week and the lads can come on, and whoever plays the team does not weaken, so I think that is going to help us in these next few months coming to the end of the season.

“We’ve got a great squad and the Gaffer has used it all the time, whether we’re winning or losing and that has never changed, so that will always help us.

“I think when I’ve played I have done well, but we’ve got a great team, we’ve got great players who play in my position, so I’ve just got to keep my head down and help the team as much as I can, whether that is off the bench or starting, but I know I can help the team when I play.

“I think I do bring something different to the other lads in those wing-back positions, obviously, it is new to me as I’ve never played wing-back before, but I have done a good job for the team when I’ve been called upon, so I am enjoying it and loving my time here, so I just have to be ready when called upon.”

And looking towards the Cheltenham game itself, Taylor believes the squad is in good spirits heading into Saturday’s league fixture in Gloucestershire.

“Training this week has been really good, we’ve got a great team spirit, forgetting about the Man City game, one defeat in seven in the league, so training has been excellent with a good tempo, and we’re ready for Saturday.

“We have obviously already played them twice and we’ve beat them twice, so I think they will want to get one back on us and try and beat us, but we’ve got to go into the game with full confidence that we’ve got in ourselves and hopefully get the win.”
