Salford City goalkeeper Jamie Jones has been reflecting upon the goalless draw at Bradford City in the league last weekend, as the Ammies now look ahead to Chesterfield this Saturday.

Speaking on the club’s podcast this week, the 35-year-old keeper, who signed from Middlesbrough over the summer, was pleased to have kept his first clean sheet for the Ammies at Valley Parade last weekend.

"They’ve got a great fanbase Bradford, we knew that before the game and coming into it.

"That is what I bring to the game, my experience, so just try and keep them quiet for one, and keep our lads nice and calm to deal with moments that come at us.

"I came for a few good crosses that calmed the crowd down and just took that momentum off them, so as a back four and a goalkeeper I was really proud of how everyone dealt with it, and I am made-up to get the clean sheet.

"Going to big places like Bradford, and coming onto this Saturday with Chesterfield, myself and the back four want to keep clean sheets away from home, just as well as at home, so it was good to get that first one away from home on Saturday.

"I go into every game trying to achieve that, so that is the first one of the season in the league, so one in two games, it is not a bad start.

"But, we are not resting on our laurels, we want to build on that, we want to build on that as a team. We’re keeping clean sheets at one end, the goals will start coming and that will make us get results and win games."

Salford City return to league action on Saturday, as the Ammies travel to the SMH Group Stadium to take on Chesterfield, with the hosts coming into the fixture on the back of a 5-0 win at Crewe last weekend.

But for Jones, the Salford keeper is hoping for another good defensive display from the team.

"I’m looking forward to it, they’ve got a good following behind them, they’ve had a few good seasons now. A couple of seasons ago they were unfortunate to not get promoted that year. They’d done really well.

"They’ve started the season well, scoring five goals last week, but we will be doing everything as a back four and a goalkeeper to keep that down to zero again.

"Hopefully, the lads will step up at the top end of the pitch and start scoring a few goals, and we are looking to get three points definitely."
