Salford City Lionesses can confirm the departure of Kay Baker to pursue another opportunity at a club higher in the pyramid.
The defender joined us in 2019 after our promotion to the sixth tier and was a key player, winning the Player of the Year award, as we placed top of the league when the season was halted due to the Covid pandemic.
After the 2020-21 season was expunged and we were promoted to the fifth tier, she continued to be a regular and reliable presence in the heart of defence.
In total Kay made 78 appearances for the Club, scoring six goals including one of the five in our historic 5-4 Women’s FA Cup debut win against Curzon Ashton.
Reflecting on her time with the Lionesses, Kay said:
"Salford has been my life for the past five years and I've had the best highs of my career at this Club.
"I will always be forever grateful of that but now it's time for a new adventure and to push myself harder."
Everyone at the club would like to wish Kay the best as she makes a step up, and thank you for your efforts!
