Salford City's Matty Young has expressed both his excitement and the need to remain focused ahead of Saturday’s crucial home fixture with Colchester United.

The 18-year-old goalkeeper, who joined the Ammies on loan from Sunderland at the start of the season, was appearing on the club’s official podcast this week, and has spoken of his anticipation for this weekend's return to the Peninsula Stadium.

“Everyone is just excited.

“With just two games left we obviously want to maximise the points with six points hopefully, so that is the mood, that is the focus, and I think everyone is on the same page which is very important.

“We have worked well together in training this week, and the intensity is high, the quality is high, and we are demonstrating that we are a group that are going to come out well on Saturday and hopefully win."

“We just take each game as it comes, and we treat each game as just another game.

“I know as much as it is crucial that we do win at the weekend, we are just going to treat it as though we just need the three points, and we are going out there to win.

“We just need everyone there on Saturday, the crowd has been good away, and at home as well, so it is important that we get everyone there."
