Bruno Padovani and Ruben Butt celebrated their first starts for Salford City with goals against Wolverhampton Wanderers Under-21s in the Vertu Trophy.

The Ammies topped Northern Group A with a comeback 4-2 win at a soggy Peninsula Stadium, with Padovani's half volley levelling the scores before half time after Fletcher Holman had given the visitors an early lead.

Padovani then setup Cole Stockton to put Salford in front, before Butt's five-minute brace with about 10 minutes to go put Salford out of sight. Leonardo Lopes pulled a stoppage time goal back for Wolves, but it was nothing more than a consolation against a Salford side that recorded three wins from three in the group stage of the competition for the first time.

With a long-standing friendship behind them, the pair were delighted to celebrate two more key career milestones together.
