Fabio Borini signed a short-term deal with Salford City in October 2025, after a few weeks training at the Club for fitness.
The Italian has played at the highest level in Europe, turning out for the likes of Roma, Liverpool and AC Milan.
A regular at youth level for the Azzuri, Fabio spent his childhood years at Bologna and Chelsea before a successful loan spell at Swansea City and ultimately a move to Roma. After just a year in the Italian capital he returned to England and playing under Brendan Rogers once more, this time at Liverpool, although it would be in a loan spell and subsequent permanent move to Sunderland where Fabio would earn a cult status.
In 2013-14 he scored the winning goal against Manchester United in the League Cup semi-final first leg, and then the opening goal of the final against Manchester City which ended in a 3-1 defeat. Back in the league he scored a winnner away at former club Chelsea, and scored in wins against Cardiff City and West Bromwich Albion to help Sunderland retain their top flight status. Most importantly though, his goal at the Stadium of Light against Newcastle United earned Sunderland a derby win - as well as moving off the foot of the table - and he also scored and assisted in a 3-0 win at St. James' Park later in the season as the Black Cats completed a league double over their rivals.
Following a season back at Liverpool, Fabio signed permanently for Sunderland in 2015, but left at the end of 2016-17 after their relegation to the Championship and joined AC Milan on loan before making it a permanent deal the following season. A spell at Hellas Verona followed before a move to Turkish side Faith Karagümrük that yielded a prosperous goals return, and in 2023 he returned to Italy for a two-year spell at Sampdoria.
