Salford City announced the signing of striker Jay Bird from League One side Exeter City ahead of the 2025-26 season.

The 24-year-old forward joined the Ammies on a two year deal at the Peninsula Stadium following an enjoyable loan spell at Rochdale in the second half of the previous season, scoring five goals in 10 league appearances, and helping the Lancashire side secure a place in last season’s National League play-offs.

Prior to his time at Exeter and Rochdale, Bird began his senior career at his hometown side MK Dons in 2019, having been at the club as a junior since the age of eight. He subsequently moved to the Scottish Championship and made 40 appearances for Arbroath during the 2023-24 campaign.
