Bio
Our first new face in the summer 2023 window, Luke Garbutt signed a two-year deal at Salford after three years at Blackpool.
A left-back with a wicked delivery, Garbs came through the academy at Everton where he played with team mates Ryan Watson and Conor McAleny, and actually played in the men's team with co-owner Phil Neville. He made 12 senior appearances for The Toffees, mostly in the 2014-15 season in the Premier League and Europa League, as well as having a number of loan spells away from Goodison Park to help his development.
He also impressed for England at youth level up to Under-21s, winning the 2010 UEFA European Under-17 Championship and being chosen in the Team of the Tournament.
After leaving Everton in 2020 he signed for Blackpool, winning promotion to the Championship via the play-offs in 2020-21.
"The meeting with the Gaffer was really good. He told me what he wants me to do in the team, how he wants the team to play, the formations he wants to use and how he sees the team going moving forward. It was all really positive, upbeat and very exciting."
