Bio
Experienced goalkeeper Mark Howard was among Salford City's summer signings ahead of the 2025–26 season, returning for a second stint at the Peninsula Stadium.
Supporters might remember that the 38-year old had already played for the Ammies in the past, having made three appearances for Salford in 2019 whilst on an emergency loan from Blackpool.
Howard moved back to Moor Lane following three successful seasons at Wrexham, where he helped the North Wales club achieve three successive promotions. Salford’s new keeper also experienced promotion in the 2016-17 season whilst playing for Bolton Wanderers, when the Trotters finished second in League One and returned back to the Championship.
Elsewhere in his career, Howard had a significant impact at Carlisle in League Two, where he was voted their Player of the Year for the 2021-22 season, keeping 11 clean sheets for the Cumbrians and helping them stay in the Football League that season.
Howard began his playing career at Arsenal, and subsequently has gone on to clock up over 400 senior appearances at various clubs across England, Wales, and Scotland, with over 100 of these appearances occurring whilst playing at Sheffield United, including a memorable run to the FA Cup Semi-Finals at Wembley in 2013-14.
